There are two newly restored Inca access routes to Machu Picchu that will be opening in the next 24 months or so — one of them an Adrenalin-packed hike through a temple ruins known as Inkaraqay.
The stage is set for Lima’s 482nd anniversary celebration. The historic Spanish-colonial center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988, has been the scene of non-stop live music from mid-morning late into the night all week in the Plaza de Armas.
It seems that tourists are not the only ones exploring the Machu Picchu Sanctuary in ever greater numbers. Spectacled bears appear to be thriving in the protected World Heritage park.
