New Year Eve Parties 2019 in Lima

If you’re wondering, how is “New Year’s celebrated in Peru?” The truth is  in most respects, it’s very similar pretty similar to the United States or Europe. People get together, enjoy some drinks, and wait for the clock to strike midnight. When the New Year becomes official, the sky lights up with fireworks!

That said, there are some fun Peruvian New Years traditions, especially the grapes. As midnight approaches, everyone eats 12 grapes — six green, six purple — to celebrate each month of the coming year, making a wish before eating each one. Also, in neighborhoods, towns and villages throughout the country, an effigy representing the year about to pass is burned — very often the highly flammable image of an unpopular celebrity or politician will face the match.

There aren’t many better ways to begin a new trip around the sun than by partying in Lima. We’ve put together a list of four options for the best place to spend New Year’s in Peru.
