The accommodations are in the serene and beautiful Gocta Lodge, where every room has either a balcony or a terrace facing towards the waterfalls. (Not only will you be able to witness one of the highest waterfalls in the world from the comfort of your bedroom, you will also hike to the base, descending through a sultry jungle paradise.)

Explore the of Kuelap fortress, the crowning glory of the mysterious Chachapoya culture, dwellers of the mist-covered mountain, whose archaeological ruins bear testimony to a hidden civilization. The Chachapoya dominated almost 25,000 square miles in this region from about 800 to their conquest in the 1470’s by the Inca, who were in turn vanquished by the Spaniards in the 1530’s.

Day 2 – Breakfast and depature to Gocta Falls, walking through the Andean forests.  Arrival to the base of the falls and return to the Lodge.  Lunch, afternoon free* and overnight night in Gocta Lodge.

Day 3 – Depature at 8 a.m. for a full day excursion to the Fortress of Kuélap, travelling first via the Valley of the Utcubamba and later crossing picturesque Andean towns.  Lunch in María.  Spend the night in Gocta Lodge.

Day 4 – Breakfast and departure (7:30 a.m.) toward Tarapoto, crossing the forests of the Alto Mayo jungle.  Visit to an orchid growing center in Moyobamba before enjoying a traditional rustic-styel lunch.  Arrival in Tarapoto to board StarPeru flight to Lima.

Day 3 – Breakfast and departure to Gocta Falls, walking through the Andean forests. Arrival at the base of the falls and return to the Lodge. Following lunch, afternoon free. Overnight * in Gocta Lodge.

Day 4 – Depart at 8 am for a full day to the fortress of Kuélap, traveling first by the Utcubamba Valley and then through picturesque Andean villages. Lunch in María. Overnight in Gocta Lodge.

Day 5 – Breakfast and departure (8 am) to Luya Valley, where we visit the graves of Karajía Quiocta and caverns. Lunch in Lamud. Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 6 – Breakfast and departure (8 am) to Chachapoyas for StarPeru return flight to Lima.
